There is a special event at the railway, "The 1940s Experience". As well as the steam train rides, visitors can relive our ‘Finest Hour’ – experience the exciting and most dangerous 1940s: … Men in uniforms and spivs plying their trade … Silk stockings and Wartime fashions … discover life with rationing, air raids and the Home Guard … Meet the family in their 1940s home, admire the fashions, music and dance of the era, and see the ‘French Resistance’ as they take over Wootton Station! Pure nostalgia!

There is also the option of a visit to Osborne House, Cowes, the famous island retreat of Queen Victoria and her family; now owned by English Heritage. This visit is not included in the trip ticket.

For trip tickets, send a cheque (payable to Slough & Windsor Railway Society) to John Coke by 26th April 2011.
